The top, back, sides and neck are made of nicely figured koa. It’s fitted with Schaller friction pegs, which hold the tuning quite well. There are a couple of very scuffs here and there around the edges that you can feel but that don’t show in the photos. It has a white label, which Kamaka used between 1969 and 2000, but it is very similar to the instruments we were getting from Kamaka in the early 2000s, so we’re going for a mid 1990s date. (Kamaka started using serial numbers in 2000.) Includes a chipboard case that scruffy but serviceable.\r
\r
Kamaka Concert Ukuleles are more popular than the "original" ukulele, the soprano. For many players the concert ukulele offers the best of both the soprano and its big tenor brother. Compared to a soprano, the scale on the concert is a bit longer, which means the frets are a little further apart, making chord positions easier since your fingers have more room on the fretboard. The bigger body gives more bass response than a soprano as well. But unlike the tenor, the concert size still retains that charming trebly “bubbling” tone that made the ukulele so popular in the first place.\r
